We all slept in today, which was fine with me given the cold I’m battling (well, and the fact that I was up all night finishing the book I was reading). My ear has unplugged, so hopefully I’m over the hump and on the road to recovery. We spent the morning in the motorhome vegging out, watching the Wimbledon women’s finals, playing PvZ and taking showers. The kids really wanted to go to the pool today, and since yesterday was such a long day, we caved.
The pool here is pretty cool. It would be long enough to do laps in, if there wasn’t a buoy line dividing the shallow side of the pool from the deep side. There are two lifeguards, one for the shallow area and one for the deep area. There is a small slide for the kids. 15 minutes out of every hour is adult time – they kick all of the kids out of the pool and it is adults only (to give the lifeguards a break).
Of course Taylor started off the day by falling off the stairs to the water slide and skinning her knee. The lifeguard patched her up with some gauze wrap. So she and I went and played mini golf while we waited for the bleeding to stop. She is getting better at mini golf, just not good enough to beat me (yet).
Last night and today Kim was attacked by bugs – her legs are totally covered in bug bites. Don’t know what they are, but they seem to be nasty.
Had a campfire tonight so the kids could roast the gigantic marshmallows that they got at the store at the campground. The fireflies were out again and my goal was to try to take a picture of one…I did manage to get one, but it turned out to be pretty unspectacular. The two dots near the center are the fireflies. I was hoping for more of a streak in the picture.
Tomorrow we are going to head back into DC and hit the museums. The humidity is supposed to start to go up, and there is a chance of thundershowers. So, staying mostly indoors is probably a good choice.
