Let the Adventures Begin!

I quit my job today!  Well, I actually quit about a month ago, it just became public knowledge today.  My last day is the 13th, although I am basically on vacation after this week – I’ll go to a few meetings as needed to help transition my stuff over to other people.  Here is the mail that I sent out today:

After working at Microsoft for half of my life, I’ve decided that it is time to leave the company and embark on a big adventure or two. My last day will be May 13th – however, I can’t do anything the easy way. Starting May 2nd, I’ll be in and out of the office, using up the last of my vacation. So, if you need to get a hold of me, try to find me by the end of this week.

So what are the adventures that I’m going to do? The primary one will be a big RV trip this summer – my oldest daughter is in high school, so I figure that this is going to be my last opportunity to do a trip like this with my entire family. I’ve done a couple of these in the past – a 50+ day one and a 30ish day one. This time around I’m shooting for about a 40 day trip. I don’t have a full itinerary yet, although we will hit Washington DC for sure, and the kids are pushing to go to the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando. Additionally, in the past year, I’ve started to get into motorcycle riding. Adventure riding in particular. I have a KLR 650, and once the snow melts (after I’m done with the RV trip), I’d like to do the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR). Of course I’d like to get a fishing trip or two in as well. If you want to follow along on the adventures, be sure to keep an eye on my adventure blog @ https://scottsk.wordpress.com .

If you need to contact me in the future, you can use my personal email address – scottsk@hotmail.com. Or bug me through facebook – http://www.facebook.com/scottsk.

Thanks for all the great memories!

  1. I gotta keep slaving away at the Lazy Bee Ranch, but let’s hook up and go fishing sometime. Remember your Dad’s old red Ford and hauling the canoe to Lake Kathleen and catching trout with Ozzy blasting? Guess those fish didn’t care about the whole be quiet or you’ll scare all the fish away deal…

    1. Yeah, we should definately get out and hit the fish. Big run of humpies this year – I’ll be spending a bunch of time at my place in Anacortes going after them – you should come up for a day or two.

      1. Sounds like a plan. I bought your Dad’s old boat (the Sea Sport), so am putting on a new front red/green light, spiffing it up and just generally making sure everything’s gonna be reliable. Can’t wait to catch some fish in it and do some crabbing this year too.
